Dan does a great job of writing lyrics that are as hilarious as they are beautiful and moving. I keep coming back to this understated little album in my dark hours and discover more depth every time. For barebones 4 track recordings these songs are somehow epic and full. I saw Dan live at the Tote front bar in 2020 and he was just as captivating!

Short and sweet, no wasted moments, subtle guitar lines make it easy to miss how inventive they are. I actually appreciate the live to tape recordings including whatever is going on in the background; it's not obtrusive. And some electronic dabbling. An intimate album fans of bedroom folk, Vashti Bunyan, etc will appreciate and love more with repeated listens.
